When starting a business it is vital that you have the right mindset and you know what your business mindset is. Not every business is going to require you to have the same mindset. That is because some businesses are created for different purposes. Some are created with the intention to take advantage of short-term opportunities. Some are created with the intention to grow and ultimately sell at a profit for the creator of the business. Some businesses are created with long-term or permanent goals in mind. Below is a shortlist of things to consider when starting a business.

  1. Who are you doing the business for?
  2. What is your goal(s) with the business (Short Term and Long Term)?
  3. Why this particular type of business and how will your business differ from the competition?
  4. Who is your competition (name 3 or 4 competitors)?
  5. Who is your ideal customer (age, ethnicity, gender, religion, wealth class, etc)?
  6. What time and how much time can you dedicate to your business?
  7. Find/name at least 6 experts in the same field as your business that you can learn from (3 on social media and 3 on youtube)?
  8. What is your “why”? Why are you starting this business?
  9. List 5 things that you need to research to make you more knowledgeable about this business.
  10. What is your biggest fear about this business and what can you do to ease that fear?
  11. List what you need help with in regards to your business (Production, customer service, IT, planning, etc)
  12. Make a “To-Do” list of everything you can think of that needs to be done to get you to your next big goal?

These items are meant to give you substance to add to your business foundation. They are meant to add to your sense of direction and iron out the reason for you to go into business.
